In the last several years, there has been a tremendous resurgence in the interest of all aspects of the Civil War. Participation in and attendance at reenactments is on the rise, as well as interest in collectibles such as buckles, weapons and ammunition. Tourism to revitalized Civil War battlefields and farms is steadily growing. Many new epic films have brought the true story of the war to the public.
In an effort to provide an exciting new product to add to the Civil War memorabilia mix, we proudly present Private Matthew Peters Virginia Gourmet Peanuts. Matthew Peters was a farmer from Warwick County, who fought on Virginia’s battlefields with the 32nd Virginia Infantry. We are proud to immortalize this brave Virginia Patriot with delicious premium gourmet nuts.
The cooked peanuts are the best and largest peanuts grown in this area, cooked in 100% peanut oil, giving them their superior flavor. We believe that the attractive labeling as well as the flavorful product will provide retail outlets with a new and exciting marketing tool, something that will be bought not only as a gift, but as a souvenir. The authenticity of the plight of this soldier adds to its uniqueness creating a new niche for the Civil War gift shop.
History
In 1861, Matthew Peters left his farm, wife and infant son to join the 32nd Virginia Infantry of the Confederacy. His company, the Warwick Beauregards, fought in the Battles of Williamsburg, Five Forks, Saylers Creek, and Appomattox. Enduring disease, starvation, and pestilence, he returned home in 1865, wounded, yet a survivor.
Now over 100 years later, his great grandson, Randy Sealey, immortalizes this fine Virginia patriot with a fine Virginia Peanut.
